To improve the ACCESS and AWARENESS of specialized, and routine health monitoring. ACGI Missions’ Public Health connects our patrons with professional services targeting their health needs.
Diabetes Screening is an imminent 1st step in preventing and identifying areas of health needs. According to 2015 Health Reports by UofC South Side Health Vitality Research it is apparent that Advanced Outreach Services are needed. The 2015 UofC Health Vitality report outlined the following: 1. South Side Chicago has 13% higher incidence of Diabetes than the National Population. 2. More than 25% of participants with diabetes has never been diagnosed with Diabetes by a Medical Doctor. 3. More than 70% of participants with PreDiabetes has never been diagnosed by a Medical Doctor.
Blood Pressure (BP) Monitoring measured with a portable device indicated that 47% of Surveyed Participants had high blood pressure; as reported in UofC 2015 South Side Health Vitality Research.
Obesity Prevention is 1st done by identifying your health status and Body Mass Index (BMI). The 2015 UofC Health Vitality report outlined the following: 29% of South Side Residents were overweight. Also, 57% of South Side Residents were obese; as reported in UofC 2015 South Side Health Vitality Research.

Community based Health Service Learning and Public Health Practicums with Chicago State University’s (CSU) School of Public Health Sciences’ Internship. We supervise Interns from the School of Public Health Sciences at Chicago State University. The student interns volunteer 30 – 360 hours, create surveys, perform statistical analysis, learn how to build and use secure databases, create Health AWARENESS campaigns, conduct workshops, and create educational resources. The listed activities provides customized Public Health and Social Service programming for our patrons on various health related topics.
Diabetes AWARENESS | Health and Wellness Fair | Nutrition | Disease Prevention Education
University of Illinois at Chicago’s Youth Summer Employment Program. Supervised Youth are trained in assisting children and peers on Health activities, such as exercising, nutritional food groups, making wise nutritional food choices, sanitary activities to prevent spreading germs (i.e. importance of washing hands ….etc), teeth brushing and hygienic care and etiquette.
